A true Colorado summer calls for venturing outdoors, soaking in the sunshine and exploring beautiful mountain towns. Colorado Homes & Lifestyles was recently invited to experience the grand opening of Beaver Creek Resort’s Creekside Park and its new summer pop-up shops.

Creekside Park took five years to complete, spanning several acres across the heart of the luxury resort. With an emphasis on designing a family-friendly space, the park features plenty of areas to stroll, play and simply be. “The design vision for the newly reimagined Creekside Park was to create a space that seamlessly blends the natural alpine beauty of Beaver Creek with a modern, family-friendly atmosphere. Our goal was to craft an environment that feels both timeless and inviting—a place where community, nature and play intersect,” says Clint Huber, Director of Economic Development, Beaver Creek Resort Company.

SE Group, Zehren & Associates, and Duncan & Grove were integral creative partners who helped bring the park’s vision to life. Huber shares that the design team’s objectives included enhancing a sense of discovery, adventure and exploration, while providing families with a world-class playground—and guests and the community with a frictionless invitation to deeply connect with the natural alpine environment.

“Key elements included incorporating natural landscape, materials and forms that echo the surrounding alpine environment, as well as designing a playground that encourages imaginative, inclusive play for kids of all ages,” Huber tells Colorado Homes & Lifestyles. The result? A reflection of the spirit of Beaver Creek’s elevated resort experience for both locals and visitors alike.

At the heart of Creekside Park is a custom-designed playground, creatively named “Birds of Play”—paying homage to Beaver Creek’s iconic downhill ski course, Birds of Prey. “It includes habitat-themed play pods, anchored by a custom nest-themed play structure, connecting the playground to the natural environment,” Huber describes. In addition to the playground is the multi-use lawn space toward the upper section of the park.

A spacious shaded picnic area, stage for entertainment and community events, and seating nooks await guests upon entering the park. Huber notes that “both the playground and the multi-use lawn space incorporate accessible meandering paths connecting the park features, including quiet reflection areas, secluded picnic tables and access to the eponymous Beaver Creek itself.”

Community input was also pivotal in shaping the park’s vision and construction. Local residents’, families’ and stakeholders’ perspectives were all considered from the earliest planning stages. “Their feedback guided many key decisions—from prioritizing capturing the natural elements that reflect the alpine setting to ensuring the playground offered opportunities for creative, inclusive play. Requests for flexible open space led to the design of a multi-use lawn that can support everything from casual gatherings to larger community events and concerts,” Huber explains.

Exploring Beaver Creek during the summer adds to the alpine charm of the newly designed park. “By blending natural beauty with modern amenities, Creekside Park reinforces Beaver Creek’s reputation as a world-class year-round destination—one where summer is just as memorable as ski season.”
