Home is Where the Hygge Is

Alexandra Gove was clearly ahead of her time when she launched her lifestyle blog Hygge Life three years ago. The Danish word for cozy, hygge (pronounced HOO-gah) has become a fast-moving, worldwide trend.

“It’s all about being cozy and slowing down to enjoy a moment,” says Gove, who discovered the movement while living in Denmark and traveling around Europe in a 1971 camper with “Hygge Life” painted on the side. Now back in Denver, Gove and her fiancé, Koen van Renswoude, have started a retail company by the same name, selling alabaster candles, ethically sourced sheepskin throws, Turkish towels and other cozy lifestyle items on their website and at flea markets around Colorado (look for them this summer at the Denver Flea, Vail Farmers’ Market and Renegade Craft Fair). hyggelife.com
