Lifestyle shop, Homebody, will host the first U.S. exhibition of paintings by French artist Caroline Rennequin at the Ginny Williams art gallery space in Cherry Creek. Ms. Rennequin will fly into Denver to attend the opening reception on April 7, 2023. “The planets were all aligned,” says Dory Pratt, owner of Homebody, “and the gallery showing came together quickly.” We were able to secure the Ginny Williams space and “are excited to bring in a female artist to pay homage to William’s legacy as a supporter of women and the arts.”

Rennequin attended art school in Paris for eight years. It was there that she honed her skills in the disciplines of painting and sculpture. After some time off to raise her son, a diverse career in the arts followed. She worked for fashion designer, Isabel Marant, a friend from art school, and the popular Parisian fragrance, Annick Goutal. She now serves as creative director for the handbag collection by Jerome Dreyfuss, a cult favorite among the fashionable set with boutiques in Paris and Soho. Throughout her career, Rennequin has painted behind the scenes. She has also explored working with theatrical sets and costumes, illustration, and textile patterns,

During the pandemic, Rennequin painted a series of 350 flowers, many on India paper with Gouache color, an opaque naturally pigmented watercolor. Her flowers express the aesthetics of the feminine relationship with nature using a spirited color palette. Her frames are all handmade and painted a high gloss, natural white.

In 2021, she exhibited her flower paintings in Ibiza in the Galeria También where her work remains as a permanent installation, and in Paris in a collective exhibition at the Galerie Vallois. Rennequin has published a book with The Drawer editions, entitled That’s All Folks! that features the flowers she painted during the 2020 lock-down. She also recently celebrated a solo exhibition in 2022 at the Galerie Fournier in Paris.

The Cherry Creek exhibition, Milky Way Flowers, will host its opening reception April 7, 2023. The reception is open to the public and guests are encouraged to stop in, enjoy libations and light appetizers, and peruse Rennequin’s paintings. The show will be on display Tuesday-Saturday until April 18th at 299 Fillmore Street in Denver. After the 18th, Rennequin’s art will move to the Homebody shop at 2920 East 6th Avenue, between Fillmore and Milwaukee.
