Darla Worden says hello to a new year of home design inspiration.
Out with the old, in with the new as we say goodbye to 2024 and hello to plans and resolutions in the new year—in other words, the perfect time to tackle that remodeling project you’ve been considering. In our Remodel Issue, we feature the fabulous results of reimagined spaces across the state, beginning with a popular room for an update—the bathroom. You’ll find the elegant renovation of a primary bath in Denver, with its freestanding tub large enough for two and glass chandelier; and, our baths section spotlights three more deliciously spa-like spaces.
Whole residence renovations are also in our pages. Near Boulder’s Pearl Street Mall, a California couple turns a former commercial space into a charming condo. In downtown Denver, a couple renovates their home with a palette inspired by Violeta marble; and in Colorado Springs, a remodel centers around an expanded kitchen.
Moving from smaller spaces to large, we feature a 7,000-square-foot home in Evergreen where the homeowners desired design consistency and efficient space use. “Our goal is for every square inch to be usable,” says designer Laura Aguilar of the resulting stunner that includes a wine room, bourbon bar and sun room.
An outdoorsy family from Chicago found a Snowmass Village home that checked all the boxes: solid bones, great location and superb views. But it was in serious need of an update. Enter interior designer Anne Grice and T. Michael Manchester—the home’s original architect from 26 years earlier. While retaining the existing floor plan, the home underwent a near total rebuild, including new materials and details inside and out. Grice and the homeowner chose soft neutral hues for a serene monochromatic vibe, enhanced by tactile mohair, leather and wood.
As you find inspiration for your own remodeling projects, you’ll want expert advice—and we’ve included our Top Interior Designers list on page 54 to make your job easier. Our celebration of Colorado’s most talented firms is organized by town for convenience. Cheers to new projects in the New Year!
