What Does the Owner of Larimer Square Love?

Jeff Hermanson shares his favorite things, from shoes and sunglasses to luggage and retail stores.

SHOES

I shop almost exclusively at Scarpaletto, though I love Donald Pliner, too. I have a pair of red suede shoes my girlfriend got me by John Fluevog. For casual shoes, I wear John Varvatos high-tops. High-tops and skinny jeans seem to be a good match.

It’s important to make fashion fun—forget the blue dress shirt and navy slacks. Move to a tailored fit, and accessorize.

EYEGLASSES/SUNGLASSES

I have a great collection of reading glasses, many of them Eyebobs from The Bent Lens on Larimer. My style is hip, edgy and distinctive. My favorite pair of sunglasses are Alexander McQueen (I traded with a friend). On the mountain, I’m known for wearing thick, white-framed Oakleys.

NECKTIE

I like to complement a pattern on pattern on pattern (i.e., sport coat, shirt and pocket square). My favorite right now is a denim tie by John Varvatos. I also like Penguin.

HAIR

Shannon at Al’s Barber Shop is my trusted hairstylist.

WATCH

I rotate my Cartier Tank watch (it was my father’s) with a white digital Casio sports watch.

LUGGAGE

My ski bag with wheels is Dakine. I also like my Marmot luggage, as it is very durable and is an odd green color that stands out in the sea of black bags as it comes off the luggage belt.

SKIN CARE

Sunscreen is the primary part of my skin care regimen. AILLEA, on Larimer and in Cherry Creek, has a toxin-free, all-natural mineral sunscreen.

RETAIL STORE

In Denver, Moda Man and Blue Ruby. In Boulder, I shop at Weekends. In Crested Butte, The Alpineer for techy stuff, and Chopwood Mercantile for outdoorsy fashion.

HOUSEWARMING GIFT

I’m a big wine guy, so I almost always bring wine. I like the bubbly, from French Champagne to Spain’s cava rosé to Italian Franciacorta and Billecart-Salmon brut rosé.

SOCKS

Something that says edgy but is short of being a clown. They need to tie into the ensemble. Scotch & Soda has some of my favorite patterns. Best website is sockdrawer.com.

SCARF

It’s all about color, texture and the right length to create the perfect double knot. I have two drawers dedicated to scarves, most from Hugo Boss, Armani, John Varvatos and Scotch & Soda.
