We recently sat down with Kelly Perkins to learn more about her Golden-based company Spinster Sisters Co., which was founded in 2011 with hopes of creating an alternative to “the witches’ brew of chemicals in many modern skin care products.” The brand's head-to-toe all-natural line now houses 30 products, from beard balm to body butter. But what are the microsoapery's top-selling products? Take a look.
Body Butter
The addition of shea butter makes the body butter intensely moisturizing. Shea is a high-fat butter that contains naturally occurring vitamins A and E, as well as low-level UV protection. This makes it an excellent product to alleviate eczema and rashes, treat scars and stretch marks, and soothe sunburns and razor burn. It will moisturize and protect the driest of skin.
Ingredients: Sweet almond and avocado oils, emulsifying wax, stearic acid, phenonip, vitamin E oil, shea butter, and essential oil or fragrance oil.
Soy Lotion Candles
Great for both aromatherapy and massage, these soy-based candles with jojoba oil, cocoa butter, and shea butter melt at a comfortable temperature to rub into the skin. Full of moisturizing ingredients, these candles are an excellent tool to relieve stress.
Ingredients: Soy wax, shea and cocoa butter, jojoba oil, and essential or fragrance oil.

This balm gently warms and stimulates circulation, to help keep muscles and joints loose before and after exercise. Good for the skin, and it smells great—not like your usual sports rub.
Ingredients: Olive, castor and arnica oils, beeswax, cayenne pepper, camphor, and rosemary, ginger and sweet marjoram essential oils.
Sugar Scrubs
The all-natural sugar scrubs are super-moisturizing, and you get none of the sting of typical salt scrubs.
Ingredients: Sugar, olive and sweet almond oil, vitamin E oil, and essential oil or fragrance oil.
Bath Soap
Spinster Sisters soaps are produced in small batches using the cold process soap method. Used in each soap is a base of olive, coconut, palm (sustainable/organic), castor, apricot kernel and argan oils, and combine that with cocoa butter and fair-trade shea butter for added moisturizing. Each bar retains the natural glycerin that is produced during the saponification process, for added moisturizing.
