The Materials Guide: Wallcoverings
When it comes to decorating walls, Jeremy Dowling wants everyone to know that wallpaper has transcended from grandma to Gaga. “There are a lot of folks who associate wallpaper with the mylar covering that was in their nanny’s basement,” says Dowling. “It’s just not that way anymore.” Dowling, who works at TOWN in the Denver Design District, is seeing a proliferation of wallpaper on ceilings and even in place of art.
He’s noticed an increased demand for textured wallcoverings, including metallic and men’s suit patterns like tweed and linen. Also on the rise are digitally printed wallcoverings, which offer versatility in design and often, a lower price tag.
