The 2019 Crested Butte Arts Festival Lineup

Your guide to what to do and see at the 'Premier Arts Event in Colorado'

The Crested Butte Arts Festival has been on calendars annually for over 47 years, and it’s not hard to see why. Luring in over 12,000 enthusiasts every year, the weekend-long fair hosts local and national talent to flaunt a diverse spectrum of artistry.

From August 2-4,2019, the free fest will transform Historic Elk Ave into an open air gallery for patrons to peruse ceramics, oil paintings, photography, jewelry creation and more.

The Lineup

Juried Artists
A panel of five esteemed professionals come together each year to form a jury that selects 165+ artists showcased at the festival. Expect to come across a spectrum of crafts like ceramics, digital, photography, mixed media, sculpture, jewelry, fiber, glass, metal, painting and wood. The artists will be by their booths and will give insight on how their pieces came to fruition.

Community Entertainment Stage
In between browsing all of the artistry on-hand, fest-goers can also revel in the art of song and dance presented by the Mallardi Theater and The Crested Butte School of Dance. Visiting artists, local musicians and more are set to perform at this communal stage.

Culinary Court
Engage your taste buds with food trucks and fine local restaurants at this gathered eating area. Fear not vegetarians and gluten free diners: there’s a place for you, too, with dietary options available from participating vendors.

Beer and Wine Pavillion
Inside the Community Entertainment State area boozy concoctions await for purchasing. Sample rum from Montanya Distillers, imbibe on creative alcoholic and non-alcoholic cocktails, or go for a classic beer from one of the local breweries.

Emerging Artist
Western State Colorado University has teamed up with CBAF to appoint an ‘Emerging Artist’ to unveil their own art display at the festival. This opportunity not only gives the student exposure, but also assists in furthering their education and professional experiences as an artist.

Children's Art Alley
Art festivals sometimes feel like they might bore adolescents because of the lack of appreciation––that’s why this addition is ideal to get the whole family involved. Grab some paint brushes and delve into a totally hands-on activity that helps mimic the creations seen in the festival. The best part: leave with a new art piece that’s totally free.

Art Auction
Bid on original work displayed throughout Elk Ave from local and national artists, that ultimately benefits Crested Butte’s Festival Art Outreach program.

Artist Demonstrations and Art Classes
Artist demonstrations provide a unique way to interact with some of the exhibiting artists in an informal setting. These interactive and engaging demos take place in each artists booth. Additionally, the Crested Butte Arts Festival is teaming up with the Center for the Arts to offer art classes throughout the weekend.

Greening The Festival
Not one to shy away from living green, the CBAF encourages visitors to be mindful of their impact while attending the festival by bringing reusable water bottles or shopping bags.
