Stephanie Donner’s Favorite Things

The chief legal counsel for Galvanize, 2017 9News Leader of the Year and former chief legal counsel for Governor John Hickenlooper, shares her faves.

1. My Blue Notes straw hat from Goorin Bros. hat shop on Larimer Street. I have to protect my skin while looking chic. Blue Notes Classic Brim Fedora, $150

2. My DeLonghi Kmix 5-cup drip coffee maker. I love the sleek vintage look with the pop of color. I also can’t live without my huge, green Le Creuset cast-iron pot. I use it every week. Delonghi Kmix, $150; Le Creuset Round Dutch Oven, $330 for 5.5-quart;

3. Our spill-proof kitchen table and chairs from Design Within Reach. We love the Masters Chair by Kartell because they are indoor/outdoor, kid-proof chairs yet still work masterfully for a dinner party. Our laminate table is the Saarinen Outdoor Dining Table for Knoll (our table and chairs are white). Masters Chair, $275; Saarinen Table, $7,624; Design Within Reach,

4. Chile con queso and guacamole from Patzcuaro’s in Denver. You can take the girl out of El Paso, but you can’t take the El Paso out of the girl. I will always have the border town and its food in my heart, so when I get a craving, I head to Patzcuaro’s in the Highlands.

5. My Catpower eyeglasses from Anne et Valentin at Optique of Denver. They are edgy with kind of a vintage feel.

6. On Running’s Cloudsurfer running shoe. It gives me the illusion that I am staying stylish while keeping fit (and without back pain). $150;; also available at Ptarmigan Sports in Edwards or Gorsuch in Vail, Aspen and Beaver Creek

7. The Building Block Backpack is the perfect bag for running through the airport or to a meeting, and just roomy enough to store a computer, a few Matchbox cars and coloring books. I got my first one at Goldyn in the Highlands and am now on to my second one. I’m stopped everywhere I go with this gem. $595;,

8. The Peloton Bike allows me to get a great workout at home with live-streaming classes while my kids do puzzles, and I don’t have to worry about child care. It’s changed my life. $1,995;

9. Painter Melinda Buie. I love her large-scale abstract focus with Western flair.

10. Because I have two young children, the Children’s Museum of Denver. It has so many tactile and visual experiences for the kids, and the new renovation has an exceptional outdoor space.
