Roxanne Thurman’s Favorite Things

Picks from the owner of Cry Baby Ranch on Larimer Square

The stylemaker and owner of the iconic Cry Baby Ranch on Larimer Square in Denver shares her faves.

BAG/PURSE:
I always carry a groovy cowhide tote. I’m not driven by Western “costumes”; that can be contrived or gimmicky. But I do like certain elements of the West with more sophistication. Jackson and Hyde totes, $349; jacksonhyde.com

CLOTHING DESIGNER:
Isabel Marant
. I just love the edginess of her clothes—everything she does is sophisticated and hip. barneys.com; isabelmarant.com

SHEETS:
Simply Shabby Chic
from Target, 100-percent organic cotton, preferably line-dried. $31–$62; target.com

WATCH:
I bought an Armani Exchange watch in the mall at Watch World 20 years ago and still wear it every day. It’s a man’s watch with a big face. It looks very vintage. $120–$250; macys.com; nordstrom.com

BLANKET:
Pendleton
in a Native American motif. They are timeless. They trend in and out, but they are in right now. $249–$399; pendleton-usa.com

COLORADO ARTIST:
William Matthews
. I think he is one of the finest watercolorists of our time. His work is exceptional, beautiful and subtle. williammatthewsstudio.com

SKIN CARE:
I depend on Shawn Lynn Haviland at Park Avenue OculoPlastic Surgeons in Denver. I go twice a month for whatever she wants to do to me. I need a regular maintenance routine for my skin. drpopham.com

SHOES:
I have 35 or 40 pairs of homemade cowboy boots. I wear them every day. Liberty is my favorite brand, but I also have a pair of ankle boots from Tres Outlaws. crybabyranch.com; libertybootco.com; falconhead.com

RETAIL STORE:
I mainly shop at Blush and Blue Ruby, both on Larimer in Denver. They really know what they’re doing. I tend to wear jeans a lot because of the cowboy boots, so I get sweaters at Blue Ruby and Equipment blouses at Blush. bluerubydesignboutique.com; shop-blush.com

HOUSEWARMING GIFT:
Lafco Ski House Candle
because it smells like Telluride. It’s the only candle that I carry consistently at my store. Feu de Bois Ski House Candle, $60; crybabyranch.com; lafco.com

FRAGRANCE:
My go-to fragrance is Atelier Cologne’s Bois Blonds Cologne Absolue. $85/ounce; sephora.com
