Notes from Margot Elena's Decor
A few observations on how a masterful touch elevates the beauty of simple things.

CHINA GIRL
Part of the beauty of Margot Elena’s office is the seamless mix of old and new. Here, she includes color-coordinated holiday cookies in the mix. Notice the powerful juxtaposition between two delicate china plates from her collection with the roughness of raw wood.

CANDLES, CITRUS & GREENS, OH MY
A stunning centerpiece in non-traditional colors with tremendous illumination possibility.

THINK OUTSIDE THE TREE
Elena is a master of using things in unexpected ways. Here, antique ornaments bypass the tree to be displayed instead on a vintage tray.

NICE GLASS
It helps to have beautiful handwriting—try a stencil if you don’t—and use various glass objects and jars for joyful messages written with special marking pens.

NATURE'S DRAPES
The intricate perfection of this gilt mirror is well suited for this a-bit-on-the-wild-side garland. If you look closely, you can see the very top of Margot’s “Peace on Earth,” inscription.

VINTAGE AND WHIMSY
Another lovely combination of old and new with a touch of whimsy. Note the perfectly imperfect pairing of vintage ornaments with colored paper cut in willy-nilly shapes and sewn into a garland.
