Jovanina’s Broken Italian is a hot spot for a decadent meal
I’ve been having a love affair with handmade pastas lately, especially after eating at LoDo hot spot Jovanina’s Broken Italian. Tucked inside a historic Blake Street space, this intimate restaurant offers a nontraditional “broken” Italian menu that works quite well in the hands of chef Jake Linzinmeir and his wife, Jennifer. The service is attentive, and the decor is decidedly romantic, with candelabras, gas-lamp light fixtures, delicate glassware, whimsical wallpaper and floral patterns throughout.
The food is decadent: Think bone-marrow cavatelli or spaghetti with king crab and basil-and-uni butter. Don’t miss the hidden underground wine bar below the restaurant for a nightcap. 1520 Blake Street, Denver.
