In Plein Sight
Open air painting and a celebration of conserving Jeffco Parks returns this September
PLAN Jeffco returns to host the biennial event that will feature over 25 local professional artists at the free week-long In Plein Sight event. A literal translation of “open air," this plein air art celebration will showcase the process of impressionist painting from start to finish with the chance to purchase the pieces at the end of the week.
The composition of Colorado landscapes kicks off on September 10, 2018, and will conclude on the 16th with painting expositions lasting from dawn until dusk.
Spectators will have the opportunity to witness featured artists’ paintings come to fruition at a plethora of parks in Jefferson County. Some of the headliners include the glistening creek running through Lair O’ the Bear Park and the numerous bike paths stretched far and wide at Centennial Cone Park.
The volunteer-led group promotes the picturesque panoramic views of state parks and encourages locals and visitors alike to understand the significance of conserving the land that inspires so much artistry.

In Plein Sight Event Chair and PLAN Jeffco board member, John Litz, is ecstatic about the return of this event as Colorado continues to grow its population.
“We are very excited to bring In Plein Sight back to Jefferson County this year. We feel this event is the perfect way to celebrate our parks and inspire a new generation to learn how to both conserve and enjoy the gorgeous landscape that draws so many to our beautiful state,” Litz said.
The awareness of preserving the state is also equally significant to PLAN Jeffco Co-President, Michelle Poolet.
“We are dedicated to the preservation of our green spaces and we feel that now more than ever, education is a necessity to ensure our open space parks and trails are properly maintained so they can continue to be enjoyed for generations to come,” Poolet said.
Additionally, as the week progresses, artists will flaunt their nature-inspired paintings at the Golden Community Center’s gallery exhibit. From Sept. 12-16, each of the artist’s canvases will fill up the center with bountiful art for sale. A fragment of the proceeds will also assist in aiding PLAN Jeffco’s educational outreach program.
“In Plein Sight is a wonderful opportunity for all ages to learn about what PLAN Jeffco does, as well as have an opportunity to take a beautiful rendering of Jeffco Open Space home to enjoy,” Poolet concluded.
