How Maximalism Is Redefining Bold, Expressive Interior Design
Colorado Homes & Lifestyles speaks with Suzanne Cohen, Chief Marketing Officer at Kravet, about the upcoming Art of Color event this May.
Crafting bold, expressive interiors through the lens of maximalism will be the running theme on Thursday, May 7, at 2:15 pm with Kravet and Benjamin Moore Paint at the Art of Color interior design event. Colorado Homes & Lifestyles’ Editor in Chief, Darla Worden, will sit down with Denver’s leading designers, Tory Bond, Jodi Cook and Jessica Knauf, for a conversation on color and lifestyle.
We spoke with Suzanne Cohen, Chief Marketing Officer at Kravet, to gain more insight about the highly anticipated event.
What inspired the “Art of Color” theme, and why did Kravet and Benjamin Moore feel like the right partnership for this conversation
Suzanne Cohen: Color is the foundation of everything we do at Kravet. As experts in the field, partnering with Benjamin Moore was a natural fit. We’re seeing a shift where color is no longer just a ‘moment’—people are getting more adventurous with it in their everyday lives. You see it in fashion and jewelry, which always eventually inspires home decor. We wanted this partnership to highlight how to bring that same confidence and richness into the home.
How did you land on maximalism as the lens for this discussion? Is that a direction you’re seeing grow in the design world right now?
SC: We’re seeing a real move toward ‘more is more.’ Trends like color-drenching and heavy pattern-layering are definitely on the rise. While our brands cater to every aesthetic, we’re particularly excited to see our traditional lines being used in these layered, maximalist ways.
Is this event geared primarily toward designers and trade professionals, or is it open to homeowners and design enthusiasts as well?
SC: While Kravet primarily serves trade professionals, we love these building-wide events because they allow us to open our doors to everyone. It’s a wonderful opportunity for design enthusiasts to explore our world and get a closer look at the resources available to their designers.
What do you hope attendees walk away thinking or feeling after the event?
SC: Inspired! I want them to leave ready to push some boundaries, take a few risks with their palettes, and really have some fun with color.
