Doors Open Denver

Scheduled for April 25 and 26, Doors Open Denver is a free weekend event that allows visitors to explore the architecture of Denver’s most interesting buildings, take special guided tours, bike to historic places or walk through several neighborhoods.

The self-guided tours are free thanks to the Denver Architectural Foundation, while paid Insider Tours are led by architects, landscape designers and historians. Visitors can get the event guide and map, sign up for paid Insider Tours (if available) and purchase a copy of Guide to Denver Architecture at Doors Open Denver, headquartered at Union Station.

The 2015 theme is “Denver Classics Then & Now,” with more than 50 buildings open to the public, a wide variety of Insider Tours and activities. Buildings will be open generally from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm with additional buildings open for tours. Sites include federal, state and city structures, schools, re-purposed buildings, churches, libraries and mansions throughout the metro area.

Create your own architectural urban adventure by taking the kids inside eye-popping sites or meeting up with friends at a hard-to-find or rarely open space. Doors Open Denver has teamed up with car2go, B-cycle and RTD to make transportation to and around the tours even easier; see the offers under the website’s Special Events tab for details.
