Creativity & Coffee in Aspen

Maker and Place is an eclectic coffee shop/marketplace

Aspen may not be known for funky, but that’s the adjective I would use for Maker and Place, an eclectic coffee shop/marketplace. Mother-daughter duo Candice Carpenter Olson and Michaela Carpenter are the entrepreneurs and creative thinkers behind this mash-up artisan coffee shop and globally sourced homeware storefront and gallery.

Whether it’s for the free Wi-Fi, the killer flat whites, or the black-rice porridge with fresh berries, almond milk and pumpkin seeds, Aspenites have embraced Maker as a place to get comfy and creative alongside other interesting souls. 614 E. Cooper Avenue, Aspen.

For a pre- or post-event cocktail, try the swanky, subterranean Bad Harriet in the Hotel Jerome. This sultry speak-easy is reservation-only and serves up excellent craft cocktails and complimentary passed small bites. 310 E. Main Street, Aspen; contact@badharriet.com for reservations.
