If you're still giving gifts this year, our staff share their favorite gifts to give
There is no doubt that 2020 has been a challenging year. With the holiday season upon us, we can’t help but get excited about what’s to come during the most wonderful time of the year.
If you’re still giving gifts this year, Colorado Homes & Lifestyles‘ staff shared their favorite gifts to give, compiled in this gift guide.
Whether you’re safely gathering with family and friends, or you’re sharing the festive season with loved ones at home, we wish you a happy and healthy holiday season.
What is your favorite gift to give and why?
“I love giving books and writing special notes inside. This year it’s Devotions: Selected Poems by Mary Oliver. We all need to open our eyes to (and protect) the beauty of the world. No one notices nature better or succeeds more in reminding us of our small place in the universe.” — Kate Meyers, Editor-in-Chief
“Give the gift of art this year! Studio Create from CherryArts features different art kits filled with high-quality art supplies and professional artist lessons that will be shipped to your doorstep for three consecutive months. This is an amazing gift for anyone that wants to explore their creative side.” — Holly Scott, Publisher
“I like to give Margot Elena’s gift box subscriptions to all the women in my life. They are always delighted with the fun and unexpected little luxuries inside.” — Eleanor Williamson, Art Director
“I want to focus on sustainability in the new year, so I’m gifting my friends (and myself!) Bee’s Wrap reusable food storage wraps. They’re made from certified organic cotton that’s coated with sustainably sourced beeswax, organic jojoba oil and tree resin. These wraps are an easy, reusable and all-natural way to store food, plus a way to replace single-use plastics at home. And they’re cute, to boot!” — Kasey Harvey, Digital Editor
“My favorite gift to give for the holidays are the Colorado Crafted Boxes. My family lives on the East Coast, so it’s the perfect gift to send back and give everyone a taste of Colorado.” — Olivia Steiner, Events and Sponsorship Coordinator
“The Verve Culture Tortilla Press Kit ($45). DIY tortillas are fun, tasty and super-easy. This gorgeous, powder-coated red, cast-iron press is made in Mexico and sold by a Steamboat Springs company that curates artisan products from all over the globe. The kit includes a matching warming towel and street-taco recipes. I include masa flour, too.” — Kellee Katagi, Copy & Production Editor
I don’t really have a favorite gift to give because everyone is so unique and I like to pick out personalized gifts for my friends and family… but this year, I’m going to buy gift certificates to my favorite local restaurants for a win-win for everyone! We’ll be eating well while supporting our friends in the restaurant biz. And if it’s too cold on the patios this winter, there’s always take-out! — Rebecca Gart, Editor-at-Large
“My holiday gift pick is this cute curated box from Sugar Monday Gifts, based in Denver. These thoughtful boxes are unique and make gift giving simple and easy, especially during this hectic time of year.” — Hope Bronsky, Marketing Coordinator
