Best Bars for March Madness in the Colorado Mountains
Where to watch the NCAA college basketball tournament
March is all about spring break and St. Patrick’s Day, but for many, March Madness is the overriding theme of the month.
Coloradans love sports and never want to miss a game, even when they’re traveling, so where are the best bars to watch sports when traveling in the Colorado mountains? Here are some of our favorites.

Should you find yourself in Crested Butte during March Madness there are several spots where locals go to watch sports. If the kids are tagging along, head to Pita’s in Paradise, a family-friendly Mediterranean restaurant that’s also a local hot spot for watching “the game.”
Talk of the Town is a Crested Butte watering hole where stiff drinks are commonplace and the game’s always on television. It’s the sort of place where locals have a favored barstool, but visitors still feel welcome.
In Telluride, locals flock to Brown Dog Pizza at game time. Diehard Broncos fans should be aware that Brown Dog is a pro-Boston sports bar, as is evident from the sports paraphernalia on the walls, but locals have forgiven them because the pizza is so good.
Another laid back venue to watch sports in downtown Telluride is The Last Dollar Saloon. This sunlit bar has some of the best drink specials in town.
A true off-the-beaten-path bar is the Stage Stop Saloon in Jefferson, Colorado, on the road to Tarryall Reservoir (CR23) in Park County. Whether you want to watch hockey, NASCAR, or March Madness, they’ll oblige at the Stage Stop. It’s also the perfect place to curl up next to the woodstove with a hot toddy after a snowshoe outing in Lost Creek Wilderness.

Grand Lake, Colorado, has more than one venue where visitors can catch the game, but Pancho & Lefty’s Restaurant has lots of flat-screen televisions and a large bar area. Plus, if the weather’s nice, guests can enjoy a beautiful view of the lake from the patio.
For the best Bloody Mary bar in Colorado, check out the Derailer Bar at Winter Park Resort. Take a break from spring skiing to catch a little of the game here and enjoy a fantastic view of the mountain from the Derailer’s deck area.

Visiting Breckenridge this March? Downstairs at Eric’s is a fun spot where the beer comes in pitchers and there are many televisions for ideal March Madness viewing.
The sports bar of choice in Steamboat Springs always has been and always will be The Tap House. With over 50 televisions, no other bar rivals The Tap House’s status as the ultimate sports bar in Routt County.
