A Mini Mountain Chateau

This three-bedroom Vail Valley town house makes the most of its 1,560 square feet.

Where: East Vail Racquet Club

WHAT: Three-bedroom town house

WHO: Casey St. John Interiors

THE MAKEOVER: A young, Denver-based family with daughters aged 6 and 4 purchased this town house overlooking Gore Creek from its original owner. The family wanted the dark, aged space to be lightened up and given a traditional ski chalet feel.

THE MOVES: Interior designer Courtney St. John sourced traditional wood furniture, as well as timeless materials from Ralph Lauren, Clarence House and Kravet for a fresh update that still feels old-world château. Showcase Mountain Homes created custom cabinetry throughout for maximum storage space.

The girls’ room combines the practical, the pretty and the pink—Ikea storage, RH beds, Serena & Lily wallpaper, and  Manuel Canovas fabric on the Roman shades and cornice board. The Flokati rug adds a grounding softness that even the family hound can appreciate.

“The homeowners wanted a mountain château feel, and we interpreted that in a modern style.” — Courtney St. John, interior designer

Antler sconces from RH and a vintage oil landscape from Chairish bring a bit of Western flavor and a sense of place to the guest bedroom. The headboard fabric is ClassicCloth, and the Roman shade is Ivory Swiss Dot from Gretchen Bellinger.
