A Look Back at the 2019 AIA Design & Honor Awards Celebration
An elegant evening honoring Colorado's top architects
From build and materials, to use of space and overall design, the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Colorado annually recognizes outstanding projects at the AIA Design & Honor Awards celebration. On September 13, design and industry professionals gathered at The Cable Center, for a celebration of firms and individuals continuing to enhance Colorado’s quality of life through design.
Awards of Distinction were given to exemplary projects based on the location of the architecture firm to highlight the diversity and talent of AIA members across Colorado. Projects which received an Award of Distinction then automatically advanced for statewide award consideration in the following levels: Honorable Mention, Award of Merit, or the top award: Award of Excellence. Each project was reviewed by visiting architects from Minneapolis and judged based on creatively addressing the design challenge.
“Particularly in times of rapid growth like Colorado has been experiencing, it’s critical to pause and celebrate the excellent architecture that is propelling us into the future,” said 2019 AIA Colorado President Zachary Taylor. “This year’s award recipients are leading the charge in creating innovative and inviting buildings that positively impact the communities they serve.”
Guests got the chance to network with other design pros, enjoy cocktails and try out an assortment of tasty bites.
