Emily Tucker’s Favorite Things

Boulder-based designer and interior architect

Emily Tucker—Boulder-based designer and interior architect; mom of two; and former employee of world-class designers Brad Dunning, Kelly Wearstler, Ruthie Sommers and Steven Gambrel—shares 10 things she can't live without.

1. BMoCA (Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art) is the perfect-sized museum with a wonderful collection of local and international artists. Plus, they have great events. bmoca.org

2. Designers need other designers, and I need the work of Steven Gambrel. His use of color, scale and historical elements is a constant lesson to me on how spaces should be used. srgambrel.com

3. Benjamin Moore Aura is my favorite paint line. A fresh paint color can literally change a room. And the Aura line is no-VOC, so you can feel good about putting it in your house. Aura Interior Paint, benjaminmoore.com

4. I make myself a matcha latte every morning with the Cuisinart immersion blender. It’s perfect for blending the tea, spices and honey. Cuisinart Smart Stick, $31; amazon.com

5. Someone gave me a Pendleton blanket as a wedding gift, and it’s the best! The underside is waterproof so you don’t have to worry about having a wet bum, and the classic Pendleton prints make your picnic extra stylish. Roll-up Blanket, $139; pendleton-usa.com

6. My Linus bike is perfect for our life in Boulder. I can get around town so easily (you don’t need to find a parking spot), and I throw my kiddos in a Burley trailer for extra capacity. linusbike.com, burley.com

7. I am lucky enough to buy beautiful things for a lot of my clients, but when it comes to my own house, I have Champagne taste on a beer budget! Serena & Lily sheets bridge the gap perfectly. They are so soft with gorgeous detailing. $108-$258; serenaandlily.com

8. Vintage rugs add an extra layer to every space. Sometimes I can snag them for fantastic prices, but the true works of art have a higher price tag. etsy.com/shop/BlueParakeetRugs

9. Cedar & Hyde is my everything store. Home goods, chic clothing, gifts, shoes, candles and more. It’s one-stop shopping. Cedar & Hyde Mercantile, cedarandhyde.com

10. Josef Hoffman dining chairs are stylish, durable and classic—not to mention fabric-free, so spills from the kids are a non-issue. Hoffman Side Chair, $305; at Design Within Reach, dwr.com
