Fresh Floral Designs Add a Whimsical Element to Home Décor

Fresh flowers provide a quick pick-me-up and enhance any room in your home. As we tire of cold weather and yearn for warmth, fresh blossoms work wonders to ease the transition between seasons. Adding a splash of color, a delightful fragrance, and a connection to nature, florals nurture mind, body and soul.

Kim Zimmerman, owner of Rowdy Poppy Floral Design, opened her shop with a mission to provide unique, sustainable floral designs that remind us of our connection to the earth. “Floral design trends fluctuate in the same way that other design trends do,” Zimmerman says. “Right now, I’m really excited about textural arrangements that make use of both color and texture for impact.” Muted tones that take a step back from the super saturated colors of last year are making their mark in 2025. “Soft yellows, creams and ivory, and shades of green come together organically to create a fresh look,” she notes.

Zimmerman says, “Sustainability is the cornerstone of our business.”  Rowdy Poppy grows many of their flowers at their urban micro farm just down the street from the RiNo showroom and workspace. They also source fresh flowers and plants through local farms and collectives. The shop is dedicated to using sustainable materials, replacing single-use plastics so often found in floral arrangements.

Rowdy Poppy creates order-ahead florals for events and occasions along with grab-and-go options available in the showroom. A mainstay of the business also includes special classes like wreath and flower crown workshops. “These are open to the public, or reserved for groups,” Zimmerman explains. “We hold classes at our location, or we can travel for corporate groups.” The workshop has a liquor license, so participants can sip and create making the outing extra special.  A calendar of class offerings is always available on their website.

Rowdy Poppy believes strongly in giving back to the community, and the showroom and workspace is welcoming and inclusive. The Rowdy Rouser Giving Program plays an active role in bolstering the people and organizations working to improve interpersonal relationships and community and global bonds. “Each quarter, we highlight a local organization doing incredible work in our community,” Zimmerman says. “We partner with them to promote their mission, and we donate a portion of our quarterly sales to help them continue their efforts. We believe in growing flowers that leave the earth better than we found it.”
