The table is set and more than a hundred guests are ready to celebrate the summer harvest at Feast in the Field in Crested Butte, Colorado. The annual farm-to-table experience offers guests a five-star dining experience featuring ripe seasonal dishes. “Locals, visitors, farmers, ranchers, winemakers and other Mountain Roots’ supporters come together to celebrate the summer harvest and share stories of local food and the land that sustains it,” explains Rachel Branham, Mountain Roots Food Project Development Coordinator.

Renowned chef Dana Zobs and Chef/Rancher Abby Knowles will collaborate to produce a mouthwatering menu honoring Colorado’s delicious bounty. The menu will be determined two weeks before the event so that the local ingredients are at the peak of flavor. Artisan spirit makers will add to the joyful event under the stars by providing regionally produced libations. “The Makers Tasting cocktail hour is always a favorite of our guests. We invite a dozen different artisan distillers, craft brewers, and vintners to prepare one or two of their signature cocktails,” says Branham.

Adding to the excitement of the night, a lively auction with proceeds benefiting hunger relief efforts in Gunnison Valley. “One of the most rewarding aspects of Feast in the Field is the paddle raise portion of the event. Seeing dozens of members of our community raise their hands in financial support of local food, education, and hunger relief in the Gunnison Valley brings me to tears each year.”

This remarkable fundraising event takes place at Red Dog Ranch, located one mile outside of the town of Crested Butte. The cocktail and makers tasting area is staged under the open sky, and guests dine against the backdrop of the gorgeous mountains, streams, and open space of the Crested Butte area. “At Feast in the Field, farmers, food security clients, community youth, and chefs are invited on stage to share stories of how Mountain Roots has impacted their lives and their livelihood,” explains Branham. “The Crested Butte community comes together to acknowledge the food insecure families that are their neighbors and the ways that they can lift each other up.”
