To celebrate the spring season, mixologists at The Mixer hand-picked a delicious selection of cocktails that are easy to make and capture the delicate flavors of the incoming season.
The Spring Buzz
If you are a fan of the cozy Hot Toddy, this spring cocktail recipe will be right up your alley.
INGREDIENTS (per person)
- 1 cup of chamomile tea
- 1 oz of whiskey
- 25 oz elderflower liqueur
- Squeeze of lemon
METHOD
- Steep the chamomile tea in a saucepan, bringing the water to the boil
- Remove it from the heat, stir in honey, and allow the mixture to cool completely
- Add whiskey and elderflower liqueur to a rock glass over ice
- Pour in a good measure of the cooled tea, and finish it with a squeeze of lemon
The Bee’s Knees
If you want your 2023 spring cocktails to follow the theme of this year’s Chinese New Year, the White Rabbit cocktail should be at the top of your list for the year of the rabbit.
INGREDIENTS (per person)
- 2 Oz Bulldog Gin
- 1 Oz lemon juice
- 5 Oz honey syrup
- To garnish, a lemon twist
- Ice
METHOD
- Add all the ingredients to a cocktail shaker with ice, and shake it vigorously until ice cold
- Strain the cocktail into a coupe or martini glass
- Twist the lemon peel over the cocktail to release its oils and then drop it in
The Honey Rose Margarita
Spring drinks with tequila? Yes, please!
INGREDIENTS (per person)
- Combine 1 oz Grand Marnier
- 2 oz Espolon Tequila Blanco
- 1 oz fresh lemon juice
- 25 oz honey syrup
- 2 dashes of rose water
METHOD
- Combine ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice
- Shake until frosty, and strain into a cocktail glass with fresh ice
- Garnish with rose petals if preferred
The Daisy Cutter Martini
Of all the different types of martinis out there, the Daisy Cutter is perhaps the most fabulously floral.
INGREDIENTS (per person)
- 5 oz SKYY Vodka
- 1 oz Cinzano Vermouth Bianco
- 1 oz elderflower liqueur
- 25 oz Chartreuse liqueur
METHOD
- Shake all the ingredients with ice
- Fine-strain into a chilled glass
- Garnish with mint leaves
White Rabbit
If you want your 2023 spring cocktails to follow the theme of this year’s Chinese New Year, the White Rabbit cocktail should be at the top of your list for the year of the rabbit.
INGREDIENTS (per person)
- 1 oz gin
- 5 oz Frangelico
- 5 oz double cream
- 5 teaspoon lemon curd
METHOD
- Add all the ingredients to a cocktail shaker with ice, and shake until frosty
- Strain into a chilled serving glass, and garnish with edible flowers if preferred
Elderflower & Herb Cooler
Elderflower cocktails are just perfect for spring, and the Elderflower & Herb cooler takes this drink format into a very interesting flavor space. Ideal for batching, it’s easy to turn into a jug for simple serving.
INGREDIENTS (per person)
- 2 oz elderflower cordial
- 5 oz elderflower liqueur
- 5 oz Bulldog gin
METHOD
- Pour ingredients in a serving jug with some floral ice* and stir until well-combined.
- Pour into serving glasses and top off with club soda.
*To make floral ice: Remove the leaves from two sprigs of rosemary and thyme and add to an empty ice cube tray with edible flowers such as pansies or rose petals, top with water and put in the freezer.
Mezcal Pineapple Sour
Sour cocktails are having a major moment right now, and we adore this Mezcal Pineapple Sour that adds a little tropical energy to the mix.
INGREDIENTS (per person)
- 5 oz mezcal
- 2 oz pineapple juice
- half a teaspoon of agave
- 1 0z lime juice
- An egg white
METHOD
- Combine ingredients in a cocktail shaker and dry shake without ice until foamy
- Then add ice and shake until chilled
- Strain the mixture into a serving glass and garnish with a few drops of aromatic bitters
