2015 Excelsior Youth Center Gala

Excelsior Youth Center Gala honors Roseanne Barr as the 2015 Triumphant Woman

Excelsior Youth Center created the first annual Triumphant Woman award in 2008, as an opportunity to recognize and honor women who have overcome overwhelming adversity to achieve greatness in their chosen field or endeavor. Triumphant Women are honored for “beating the odds” and becoming pillars of the community, displaying characteristics worthy of a role model to Excelsior girls.

This year, Roseanne Barr was honored as Excelsior’s 2015 Triumphant Woman because she has overcome significant challenges in her personal and professional life. Not only did Roseanne have a very difficult childhood, but she also suffered from a traumatic brain injury when she was 16 which significantly altered her life in many ways. But the challenges didn’t stop there – professionally, her rise to fame was riddled with difficulty and discrimination as she strived to be successful in a male-dominated arena. Roseanne proves that regardless of your past and no matter how many challenges you are faced with, you can still make a huge impact in the world.
