2 Cookbooks You Must Check Out

Delicious recipes, from simple to complex

After dining at the Los Angeles-based Gjelina last year, I became obsessed with chef Travis Lett’s eclectic, simple, and rustic style of Cal-Med cooking. His new cookbook, Gjelina, doesn’t disappoint: 125 recipes and beautiful photographs. Gjelina: Cooking from Venice, California, $21

My other favorite new cookbook is Nopi, the follow-up to Israeli chef Yotam Ottolenghi’s best-sellers Plenty and Plenty More. These recipes from his acclaimed London restaurant are more complex than Lett’s but wonderfully worth the effort. Nopi: The Cookbook, $30; Tattered Cover, Denver; The Bookworm, Edwards; Boulder Book Store, Boulder
