Furniture That Moves as Quickly as Your Kids

Candice Stringham

When you're designing the family room and selecting furniture, your primary concern is going to be comfort. But if you're asking your family room to take on several roles, furniture that moves easily is a big bonus.

Imagine a coffee table that rolls to the side to make space for gamers to maneuver. Or lidded toy bins that can stack easily in the hallway when more sleeping-bag room is needed. Or a play table with folding legs that can be rested against the wall during fort building. We like our family room to be flexible so we can rearrange it on the spot to make way for a slumber party, a jam session, a club meeting, or a movie screening.

A clean, neutral room gets a personality upgrade with this salvaged wood coffee table and graphic curtains.
