The interior-design and architect duo behind the Denver powerhouse firm Alvarez Morris, share their favorites.

SHOES:

Carolyn: Anything by Vince, comfortable and fashionable.

Carlos:  Cole Haan Chukka  boots, $268, colehaan.com. I love the new brightly colored soles and details.

SHEETS:

Carolyn: Matouk for a crisp, polished look, $330–$440/set, Neiman Marcus, Denver, neimanmarcus.com; Matteo for a more organic, casual bedroom; prices vary, matteohome.com.

FRAGRANCE:

Carolyn: Narciso Rodriguez For Her Eau de Parfum. It’s clean and feminine and comes in the most beautiful pale-pink bottle. $96/1.6 ounces, Nordstrom, Denver, nordstrom.com.

Carlos: The original Paco Rabanne old-school Spanish cologne. $64/6.6 ounces Eau de Toilette Spray, fragrancex.com.

LUGGAGE:

Carlos: Vintage Loewe. Loewe is the Louis Vuitton of Spain, and we were lucky enough to inherit some pieces from my parents.

BOOK:

Carlos: The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett. I love getting lost in the building process of historical times. And I absolutely love the Peter Beard diaries. One day, I want to do my own version of one of these books.

WATCH:

Carolyn: Cartier Santos Ronde, a model that Cartier no longer makes and was given to me as an engagement gift from Carlos and his family.

Carlos: Rolex Submariner. This watch has been on my wish list for many years.

RESTAURANT:

In Denver we like going to Hillstone in Cherry Creek. We can walk to the restaurant from our home, and it is our 11-year-old son’s favorite. For burgers, Park Burger on Pearl Street is the best.

STORE:

Lucca Antiques in Los Angeles. Everything in the store is perfection. In Denver, Bloom—great accessories and beautiful jewelry.

HOUSEWARMING GIFT:

Cire Trudon Candles, $95, Gorsuch, Beaver Creek, Vail, and Aspen, gorsuch.com, or Bloom, Denver, bloomdenver.com. Ernesto is our favorite scent.

DESIGN CRUSH:

Carolyn: Darryl Carter. His sophisticated mix of classical furnishings with clean, modern design is brilliant.

Carlos: I don’t know about a “crush,” but I love the work of Diller Scofidio + Renfro in NYC, and Herzog & De Meuron in Basel, Switzerland.

DESIGN TREND:

Anything that is repurposed. Whether it’s reclaimed materials used in architecture, or vintage furniture that is reconfigured, refinished, or reupholstered in an unexpected way.
