The 2018 U.S. Senior Open
The world's best will once again compete for one of golf's greatest titles at The Broadmoor Golf Club
The 39th U.S. Senior Open will be the eighth USGA Championship contested at the Colorado Springs hotel. Coinciding with the Centennial Celebration of The Broadmoor Hotel, the week will be a memorable event for the whole family, with celebrations worthy of 100 years of existence.
The U.S. Senior Open started "as a result of the remarkable growth in senior golf, both at the professional and amateur levels,” according to USGA. The first U.S. Senior Open was contested in 1980 and was hosted on the East Course of Winged Foot Golf Club in Mamaroneck, N.Y. The winner that year was Roberto De Vicenzo.
Since then, the U.S. Senior Open has continued to be contested at notable sites around the country. The 2018 U.S. Senior Open will mark the return of the championship to The Broadmoor East Course after hosting in 2008, becoming the 8th USGA Championship to be contested at The Broadmoor.
Past U.S. Senior Open champions include Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus and the last champion to win at The Broadmoor, Eduardo Romero.
The championship, hosted by honorary chair John Elway, will be the cornerstone celebration of The Broadmoor Hotel Centennial Celebration, celebrating the 100-year anniversary of the property on the Friday of the championship.
Mark your calendars and get your tickets for June 25 – July 1, 2018 for the return of the U.S. Senior Open to The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs!
