The holiday season is a magical time of joy, hope and wonder. It’s a time to share special traditions with family and friends and to contemplate the smile that will be on loved ones’ faces when they receive a treasured gift or enjoy a favorite treat. This year—more than ever—it offers a respite from the stresses of everyday life.

Perhaps no one needs that respite as much as children who are battling critical illnesses. During the Covid-19 pandemic, they’ve had to visit eerily quiet doctor’s offices, receive treatments from masked faces that previously helped alleviate the pain with smiles, and endure hospital stays without their support network of family and friends. Even at home, they are isolated from loved ones due to concerns about the potential impacts of Covid-19.

Make-A-Wish® Colorado’s mission is to bring joy and hope to these children by providing a life-changing wish experience. As a child contemplates his/her wish, the excitement and anticipation often replace the fear and pain they may be experiencing. And, when the wish is granted, it’s like experiencing every favorite holiday rolled into one.

This year, there are more wish kids than ever before waiting for their wishes to be granted. And, due to the pandemic, numerous fundraising events have been cancelled. Make-A-Wish Colorado is hoping that you’ll share the magic and joy of the holiday season by scheduling a donation for Colorado Gives Day on December 8th. As part of this campaign, eligible nonprofits receive an additional contribution from the $1 Million Incentive Fund based on the percentage of the total donations they receive.

Together we can make the spirit of the holidays live year round for children across the state battling critical illnesses.
