The Rocky Mountain Chapter’s black tie fundraiser turns 20
Glorious gowns and suits, live and silent auctions and a philanthropic guest list– JDRF’s 20th Dream Gala is anticipating to put on their most rewarding benefit on April 13, 2019. Dedicated to type 1 diabetes (T1D) research and funding, Colorado’s JDRF Rocky Mountain Chapter presents the annual soiree to raise money and boost awareness of the disease.
This year’s gala will be hosted at the Hyatt Regency Colorado Convention center, and is dedicated to acknowledging the work of Dr. Peter Chase and Linda Chase, RN– the duo who has devoted their professional lives to research on the prevention of type 1 diabetes.
In 1976, Dr. Chase was the first Director of the University of Colorado Pediatric Diabetes Clinic, which thanks to a JDRF researching grant, assisted in unveiling a correlation between an artificial pancreas system and how it can automatically reduce a certain amount of insulin. Not only has he improved pediatric care with T1D, but has been a major force in publishing educational books on the disease as a resource for families globally.
His wife, Linda, is a nurse and is also passionate about providing relief to those with T1D, spending her free time volunteering at the Barbara Davis Center. As leaders in this community, JDRF felt it was only appropriate to honor their commitment and involvement at the 20th anniversary party.
Dr. Chase noted that his involvement with JDRF has furthered progress on uncovering new studies for medical prevention and technologies.
“JDRF was a major force in providing research funds that allowed continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) to become rapidly available for people with diabetes. CGM’s and other technology advanced by JDRF have paved the way for improved glucose control … for which families and care providers are greatly appreciative,” said Chase.
In 2018, the Dream Gala broke records by raising up to $825,000 for type 1 diabetes research in the Denver area. The leading global non-profit for T1D is expecting more than 600 attendees at the 2019 philanthropy and is hoping to top last year’s staggering proceeds.
The extravagant itinerary kicks off with a VIP Research Reception, followed by libations and silent auction. Guests then get to feast on a multi-course dinner with a live auction and ‘Fund a Cure’– a program where donations are made directly to the cure– as their entertainment. The night will finish off with an after party featuring live music and even more cocktails to imbibe.
Serving as master of ceremonies are Meteorologist with KDVR Fox 31 Greg Dutra, Fund a Cure chairs Jack and Nathalie Fox, auction co-chairs Dick Cohen and Meredith Coors, immediate past Chair Meredith Coors and corporate chair Katie Leonard of Aetna.
