Putting Art Together: A Monochromatic Home
Selecting art for a subtle design color palette
When Brenda Thompson of Thompson & Thomas Design, LLC approached me to create a collection for this elegant cherry hills village client, we chose to present a monochromatic approach to a subtle design color palette. Monochromatic does not have to mean black and white.
Blue became our base hue as we wove in contrasting tones and textures. The featured art in this vignette is Sabin Aell’s mixed media photography piece from her "Moonwalk Series" exhibit, where she muses that in order to find and live in beauty, we must find a balance in the intangible gifts we inherit from our mothers and fathers.
Here is what I chose:
Katrin Moller's "Flussig 9"
acrylic on canvas, 48" x 48"
Bonny Lhotka's "Rain"
pigment on metal, 50" x 34"
Bill Vielehr's Chrome Drawing
cast metal wall relief, 54" x 36"
Angela Beloian's "Rolly Polly"
ink and yarn/panel, 32" x 40"
