The 16^th annual Denver DerbyParty was a smashing success on May 6, 2017, with nearly 6,000 partygoers and absolutely perfect weather—although it threatened to rain, there were no showers (unlike like last year’s bash).

Next to the actual Kentucky Derby, the Denver DerbyParty is the largest derby-themed event in the country. Once again, the party was held at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts Complex. There were dozens of TVs and two giant viewing screens this year—so that all guests are able to view the fastest two minutes in sports—red carpet photo opps, performances from musicians, bands, and world-class DJs, and, of course, the most fashionable tradition of all: the Best Hat Contest sponsored by Macy’s.

And, as you may or may not know, Denver’s coolest party also serves a bigger purpose. One hundred percent of all proceeds go to the Sean ‘Ranch’ Lough Memorial Scholarship, which enables underprivileged students to attend college without any financial burden. This year, three inspiring students received full four-year scholarships.
