Benny Samuels' Favorite Things

The COO of Nurse-Family Partnership and chief fashionista for Project Style Denver shares her must-haves

The COO of Nurse-Family Partnership and chief fashionista for Project Style Denver shares 9 of her favorite things.

1. SKIN CARE I love everything from Bee-Och Organics, a Fort Lupton-based vendor, but what I absolutely cannot live without is their Organic Face Oil. It’s a beautifully smelling blend of five oils and vitamin E, and it absorbs into your skin without feeling greasy. $50;

2. RETAIL STORE Sewn carries creative and uncommon handmade clothing by four designers, in fun fabrics and with unexpected twists, such as bows, buttons, great sleeves and cute linings. 18 South Broadway, Denver;

3. FINE JEWELRY After 10 years, my husband, John, and I still love to wear our wedding rings, designed by Boulder jeweler Carla Morrison. They are heavy, gold bands, but they have rounded edges inside so they’re really comfortable. Mine has citrine and garnet, and John’s has a tiny chip of garnet inside his band so no one can see it.

4. DENVER ARTS Denver’s Wonderbound contemporary ballet company, because it’s totally out of the box, and because this little ballet company makes me proud to be a Denverite. They’re just as good as any in London or New York.

5. TRAVEL CLOTHING I travel a lot for both work and fun, so I have to be comfy on an airplane. I choose loose, flowy, soft travel pieces from Athleta. I just bought a pair of their black travel cargo pants that are tapered, with a high waist and a whole lot of pockets. I also like shopping at Frinje in Vail. Athleta Sutton Jogger, $89, Athleta, Denver;

6. WORKOUT VENUE Central Park Recreation Center in Stapleton, with my super-cool personal trainer, Domenico Sottile. You can find him on Instagram at @theofficialdomenicosottile. 9651 E. Martin Luther King Jr Blvd., Denver.

7. HOUSEWARES Happiness is drinking (maybe a little juice, or maybe a splash of amaretto) out of my Peàn Doubulyu Wackie Ware glasses. It’s like having a burst of joy with your morning OJ! Available at Peppercorn in Boulder or Amen Wardy in Aspen; Wackie Ware tumbler, double old-fashioned or juice glass, $46 each;,,

8. COLORADO ARTIST Michele Messenger’s encaustic work is an opportunity to have fun with beeswax and sheep. Minimal and whimsical, this art feels so organic to me.

9. SUMMER EVENT The Art Students League of Denver Summer Art Market, because it offers such diverse mediums and price points. And I love outdoor markets. June 8-9;
