A High-Tech Vacation Home in Breckenridge
Imagine creating the perfect party ambiance with the tap of a few buttons on your iPad—lighting in the common areas is dimmed, the shades go down, and your favorite Spotify playlist comes on through the speakers. Or perhaps you’re driving back from your sweaty day of hiking and biking in the mountains and you want the lights on when you get home.

That type of functionality—along with plenty of entertainment spots and a super-easy user interface—is what these homeowners were looking for when choosing a design for integrating all the systems in their Breckenridge vacation home.

“First and foremost, we wanted an audio-visual design that was a subtle addition to our home,” say Beth and Jack, the Apple-centric homeowners. “We wanted there to be no complicated keypads or remotes, and for the majority of components to be hidden from our view. We also wanted a simple user interface that anyone in our family or our guests could use without any training or long instructions.”

Consistent with their home base in Boulder, their vacation spot in Breckenridge does just that. Their system integrates HVAC, lighting, security, shades, audio, audio-visual, and surround-sound, all via a user-friendly control app on their iPhones and iPads.

When they host large get-togethers with adults, teenagers, and children, having a few extra entertainment areas on hand keeps everyone happy. The 4-bedroom, 5-bathroom mountain home is equipped with 9 television spots, with a handful more audio zones. And with the wireless network so robust and the controls so intuitive, anyone can manipulate the Netflix binge or music station. “When we have guests, the audio integration with Pandora and Spotify is used a lot,” Beth adds. “The only question in our house is who gets to be the DJ!”
