10 Things the Guy Behind The Source Loves

Developer Kyle Zeppelin, whose projects include the Taxi campus, The Source, and the upcoming Source Hotel and Zeppelin Station, shares 10 things he can't live without

1. Ditch the Ditch enamel pins, created by in-house designer Wunderwerkz, add flair to any shirt or jacket. Plus, they’re a conversation starter about growing Denver in a socially
and environmentally responsible way. ditchtheditch.com

2. Aesop products are the best way to start the day. The Coriander Seed Body Cleanser ($25), Sage and Zinc Facial Hydrating Cream ($60) and Classic Shampoo ($29) are favorites. Even their toothpaste ($17) rocks. aesop.com/us

3. El Taco de Mexico. We often call this Santa Fe Drive institution the best restaurant in Denver. I always order the smothered chile relleno burrito, but their tacos de carne asada and huevos rancheros are also great. eltacodemexicodenver.com

4. New Belgium La Folie beer. I am a huge fan of sour beer, and the best and most interesting series of sours, aged in oak barrels, comes from this Fort Collins brewery.  newbelgium.com

5. Hypnos Mattress. We slept on one of these firm but comfortable mattresses during a weekend getaway at the Soho House in Chicago a couple of years ago, and we were hooked. hypnosbeds.com

6. Skingraft cotton T-shirts. These high-quality, well-designed casual T-shirts have a little extra length and the occasional feminist political statement. They are a staple of my wardrobe outside of office hours. $60; skingraftdesigns.com

7. Acne Studios suits. I don’t wear a lot of suits, but when I do, I turn to Acne for Scandinavian, skinny suits that don’t scare bankers and conservative partners. Suit jackets from $630, trousers from $220; acnestudios.com

8. Japanese knives, sourced from Carbon Knife Company in RiNo. My wife, Andra, and I cook a lot for ourselves and our two young daughters, and these professional-quality knives bring out the best in us as home cooks. carbonknifeco.com

9. Winter Session’s Day Pack, locally made in Denver, is a zippered, waxed-canvas bag with leather straps that is the perfect size for my laptop. It’s utilitarian but works with a suit. $289; winter-session.com

10. Pottery from local artist Kazu Oba. If you have dined at Sushi Den, there is a chance you have at least seen his beautiful plates and cups. Kazu’s serving bowls add a lot of character to our dinner table. kazuoba.com
