A Line of Bespoke Fireplace Designs Adds a Touch of Drama
A variety of luxury finishes and styles create a compelling focal point.
Inspired by the desire for connection, the STRIKE fireplace and mantel collections, engineered and designed by Dallas-based Chad Dorsey, feature custom fireplaces that represent a giant leap from the standard fireplace surround. Dorsey explains, “The fireplace is a focal point in a home where people gather. The look of this space should be impactful.”
Trained as an architect, Dorsey began designing fireplaces in 2018 when a home he was working on called for a one-of-a-kind fireplace. “That was the impetus for moving ahead to design my first collection,” he says. “There are so many ways that an out-of-the-ordinary design can make a dramatic impact.”
Dorsey’s aesthetic is best defined as “relaxed luxury” and takes advantage of a quiet palette. Impact without being overwhelming is the look that describes Dorsey’s designs. His work across the country is influenced by his love of travel, and the sights and experiences that are special and personal.
Representing a plethora of available materials and designs, Dorsey emphasizes that nothing is impossible. “Each selection works in a traditional or modern home to give the space a unique and timeless look.”
The STRIKE collections range from bold and asymmetrical, to geometric and traditional. “These aren’t just slabs that are mitered together,” he notes. “They are special legacy pieces that are carved by hand and can last hundreds of years to be passed down through generations.”
Materials include selections of marble, four types of limestone, and Mexican lava stones to offer variety in the ways in which a fireplace and mantel can be interpreted, styled, and finished. With seven collections to choose from, and the ability to customize any piece, the possibilities for an utterly bespoke look are practically endless.
Since fireplaces come in a multitude of sizes, any STRIKE Collection design can be completely scaled and customized to accommodate any living area. Dorsey believes the rooms in a home should flow and transition seamlessly.
“A clean, proportionate design can make a huge difference in the way a living space feels and functions,” he says. Designs and materials can be previewed in Denver at the Ann Sacks showroom in Cherry Creek. Prospective customers may also view design options by visiting the STRIKE website.
