As the holiday season approaches, the staff at Make-A-Wish® Colorado have many reasons to celebrate. This year, the nonprofit celebrated its 40th anniversary and the more than 6,350 wishes that have been granted to Colorado children with critical illnesses. Its inaugural Whiskey, Wine & Wishes country music event, at which Peyton Manning received the first ever Wish Hero award, was a huge success.

More than 200 schools across the state participated in Kids For Wish Kids, once again securing the Colorado program’s spot as the largest student-led fundraiser benefiting Make-A-Wish in the country. And wishes were granted to 393 Colorado children – which is the largest number of wishes granted in any year since the chapter was formed in 1983.

Moving forward, the staff is focused on another set of wishes this holiday season – those of the 400 wish kids across the state who are waiting for their wish. A wish has the power to bring joy and hope to children with critical illnesses.

The anticipation of the wish can replace fear and pain with excitement and strength. And, when the wish is granted, it’s like experiencing every favorite holiday rolled into one! The team at Make-A-Wish Colorado is committed to granting these wishes as quickly as possible and has several opportunities for the community to help this holiday season.

  • Get in the holiday spirit by attending the 35th annual Champagne Cascade at the Brown Palace Hotel & Spa on Nov. 12th. In addition to the cascade of bubbly, attendees will enjoy live music and appearances by Santa Claus and the Nutcracker Sugar Plum Fairy Ballerinas. Proceeds benefit Make-A-Wish Colorado.
  • Schedule your donation beginning Nov. 1 for Colorado Gives Day, which takes place on December 5th. As part of this campaign, eligible nonprofits receive a matching gift from the Incentive Fund based on the percentage of the total donations they receive.
  • Take the family to the Christmas In Color drive-thru animated light show taking place at the Arapahoe County Fairgrounds, Water World and Bandimere Speedway beginning in mid-November. A portion of all proceeds will be donated to Make-A-Wish.
  • Donate your unused airline miles to help grant those travel wishes. Visit wish.org/airline-miles for more information.

Join the Make-A-Wish Colorado community and help grant wishes for children across our state with critical illnesses this holiday season!
