A slate of new festive traditions is taking place for the first time this holiday season at the Hotel Polaris. In tandem with the 70th anniversary of the North American Defense Command (NORAD), the hotel will feature sparkling decorations, flights with Santa, and holiday tea at The Aviator restaurant.

Kevin Barosso, director of sales and marketing, explains, “This is the hotel’s first full year of holiday programming, and we wanted to establish a mindful link between our connections to the Air Force, Space Force, and NORAD.”

A phone booth located in the hotel lobby offers visitors and guests a special holiday message. The NORAD Santa Tracker will be shown on all screens in the hotel’s public spaces, keeping kids of all ages apprised of his current whereabouts.

Flights With Santa is a special, one-of-a-kind activity. With boarding pass in hand, participants travel to Rovaniemi Airport in Finland, the official airport of Santa Claus, in the hotel’s realistic 737MAX flight simulator featuring a 270-degree screen.

Children under 12 will fly alongside Santa, and kids over 12 will fly the simulator with Santa as their co-pilot. After the flight, a stop at the Commanders Cocoa Bar, a giant hot chocolate bar located at Doolie’s, tops off the trip. Holiday Tea is fun for the entire family at the hotel’s Aviator Rooftop Bar. Delightful seasonal cocktails will be available for revelers 21+ throughout the season.

Holiday brunch will be served daily from Thanksgiving through December at Pamela’s, the hotel’s upscale restaurant offering classic American fare. To enjoy brunch or dinner, reservations can be made in advance. “For adults, holiday serenity can be found at the hotel’s Ascend Spa and Wellness facility. Reserve a rejuvenating massage or skincare treatment,” says Barosso. “Afterward, enjoy a healthy bite at the Spa Café.”

For overnight hotel guests, the Elf Turndown Service includes cookies and milk to send you to sleep with visions of sugarplums in accommodations designed to pamper. “We are excited to bring these traditions to the area,” Barosso notes. “We look forward to introducing purposeful inaugural activities that highlight the holiday season in a meaningful way. Each coming year, we will build upon them, bringing new activities to the community.”
