in 2010, author Irene rawlings introduced us to the Sisters on the Fly, a group of adventurous women who refurbish vintage trailers and travel around the country to camp, fly fish and, of course, eat. In her new book, Cast-Iron Cooking with Sisters on the Fly (Andrews McMeel Publishing), Rawlings shares a fun collection of easy recipes using cast-iron pots, pans and Dutch ovens, as well as lots of tips for restoring vintage cast iron.“Anything you can cook in a slow cooker, you can cook in a Dutch oven,” says Rawlings, who includes instructions for making the recipes in a kitchen as well as in the great outdoors. “Cast-iron cooking is becoming popular again. We’re finding our mothers’ old Dutch ovens, scrubbing off the rust, and discovering that it’s a wonderful way to cook.
