Cocktail Recipe: Colorado Campfire Sour

A special cocktail inspired by the National Western Stock Show

The National Western Stock Show celebrates its 110th season in 2016 with a two-week series (January 7 to January 24) of activities and competitions, all in the spirit of the Wild West.

And whether you're attending the Stock Show or not, you can enjoy a taste of the western-themed event at home with a DIY Colorado Campfire Sour, Hyatt Place and Hyatt House Denver/Downtown’s special edition signature cocktail, inspired by the Stock Show and available throughout the month of January. Made with Colorado’s own TINCUP American Whiskey, the drink embraces the centennial state’s outdoorsy side with smoky undertones and a strong finish—a perfect fireside drink to warm up with. Check out the recipe below!

COLORADO CAMPFIRE SOUR RECIPE
*Makes 2 cocktails

  • 3 shots (4.5 oz) TINCUP American Whiskey
  • 1.5 shots (2.25 oz) fresh lemon juice
  • 3/4 shot (1.13 oz) maple syrup
  • 1 spring rosemary (plus 2 for garnish)

Directions: Add TINCUP American whiskey, lemon juice and maple syrup to a shaker. Light a sprig of rosemary on fire and add to the shaker. Cap and seal shaker; let stand for 30 seconds so mixture can infuse with smoke. Add ice and shake for 15 seconds. Strain over large cubes of ice. Garnish with remaining rosemary.
