A Very Merry Holiday Market Recap
An inspiring night of networking, sweater contesting, and holiday gift shopping
In addition to the festive experience, donations to Covered Colorado – a non-profit that supports survivors of sex trafficking in Colorado – were encouraged to continue the holiday cheer. Donors were entered into a giveaway in which items were donated by every showroom at the IDC Building. They included a sheepskin throw, Wolf Brand blender, Sonos Speaker, smart ceiling fan, reach-in closet, and wall artwork. An art piece from Howard Lorton Furniture was also part of the prize package.
Stephanie Herlory, Marketing and Customer Experience Manager at IDC Building, took some time to speak with CH&L and shared more insight about the details and coordination it took to host another successful holiday market.
How did the concept of the holiday market come about?
The ASID Colorado chapter (we are sponsors) approached me about the idea last year. They held a Valentine’s market in 2022 and wanted to offer their membership a market for the Christmas season. I welcomed the chance to hold it in the IDC Building as I had previous experience organizing a large holiday market as a school PTA president some years ago.
In your opinion, what makes this event so fun?
An event like a holiday market is always fun because of the season’s cheer! Who doesn’t like finding the perfect gift for family and friends?
First, I chose local vendors who had something unique to offer the interior design community. Throw in an Ugly Sweater Contest, prizes, holiday music, good food, and magical decorations and you have a recipe for a great time. We can’t forget the guests who came with lots of holiday cheer. Over 200 designers/builders and business owners.
Why is having a holiday-themed event so important for the local community of interior designers?
There are few occasions that can bring people closer than a holiday party. It’s a great time to share the warmth of the season and make new connections as the year comes to an end. It’s difficult to be a wallflower in this kind of cheery atmosphere and end the evening without making a new connection. The IDC Building and its showrooms are determined to bringing our interior design community closer with the help of organizations like ASID and great events that make people feel relaxed and free to be themselves.
Is there anything else you’d like to share?
The International Design Collection Building is proud to serve the interior design/build community. Post-COVID, design professionals are still working their way back into the larger community where sharing of ideas and creativity is so important. The IDC Building is hoping to be part of the bridge that makes important connections happen.
