Leven Deli Co.

Oy, the classic neighborhood deli and market

I had been looking for the classic neighborhood deli and market in Denver for a while before I stumbled upon Leven Deli Co. in the Golden Triangle, a new-style deli in a 2,500-square-foot space, with chic decor, vegetarian options, a progressive menu (a cross between Jewish home-style and Mediterranean), a “bike-through” window for cyclists to order breakfast and, best of all, a pastrami Reuben that truly hits home: the perfect ratio of bread, mix-ins and thinly sliced, 12-day-aged pastrami, plus homemade spicy mustard and buttery, crunchy toasted-rye bread.

To round out my meal, I had the divine Chocolate-Tahini and Malted Milk Brownie. It was clear that owners Luke Hendricks and Anthony Lygizos (both Potager alums) and staff are invested in the service and food alike when they stopped by my table—twice. Bonus: Leven is right down the street from the Denver Art Museum. 123 W. 12th Avenue, Denver
