Get to know the real PISMO…

Even if you’re a regular in Cherry Creek North, you still may not know the real PISMO, even though it’s been in the neighborhood for 21 years. What you see from the street is exquisite, one-of-a-kind, museum-quality glass. But what you DON’T see as you look in from the sidewalk is the magnificent rainbow of color and style on the upper level. What awaits you upstairs is affordable glass art of all descriptions—jewelry, gifts, table top pieces, and sculpture—lovely, unique, fun, and classy.

PISMO represents 200 artists, ranging from world masters Dale Chihuly and Lino Tagliapietra to important new talent. Owner Sandy Sardella says the real strength of Pismo though, in addition to the art, is her incredible staff—knowledgeable and approachable. This isn’t a stuffy, high-end gallery. It’s a fun and vibrant place to visit. Karla Kriss, who has been there the longest, is celebrating her 20th year at PISMO. She and the rest of the staff aren’t pushy salespeople or art geeks, but do they know their stuff!

Sandy opened her first gallery in Cherry Creek North in 1990.  She now also has galleries in Vail and Aspen. Having three galleries enables each of them to have additional inventory at their fingertips. Transfers between the galleries help them find the right piece - for the collector or the casual shopper. They also do special orders and layaways.

One dedicated Denver glass collector says, “the light and the glass— that intermix—is just breathtaking at PISMO, and we have seen a lot of glass galleries!”  The collector, who travels the world looking for glass, goes on to say, “We buy at PISMO because there really isn’t anything we can’t get right there.”

When Sandy first opened, experts told her Denver couldn’t support a glass gallery. They must have underestimated Denver…and her. Today, PISMO is one of the top glass galleries in the country—and not far from home.
