At Work With
Ella Stimpson, Director of the Spa at the Broadmoor
|
Ella Stimpson just might have the perfect job. As the director of the Spa at the Five-star, Five-diamond Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, Stimpson oversees one of the country's most luxurious spots. “My job is to make people feel fantastic,” she says, adding that she and her staff of about 100 employees serve between 300 and 400 guests a day in the 43,000-square-foot spa. “If we can help people relax, we enable them to be more creative, more focused and more balanced when they go back out into the world.” A self-described “feng-shui nut,” Stimpson takes her own well-being very seriously. A fountain bubbles happily in the southeast corner of her office, where classical music plays quietly and sheer curtains mask her bookshelves, “because principles of feng shui tell us that bookshelves are hyper-stimulating,” she explains. And what does this guru of relaxation recommend for those of us who don't spend our days at the spa? “You need to have a quiet space that's all yours,” she says. “When I had young children, that space was my bathtub. Now I get such peace from the outdoors.” |
