Baby Shower Elegance

A fresh update on a classic tradition

Here’s who helped make the afternoon lovely:

Woodhouse Day Spa

Wesco Fabric, Denver Design Center location, provided the pink paisley fabric tablecovering. Stop by their newly remodeled showroom with a fresh new look and lots of new products (595 S. Broadway, #104W, Denver, 303-777-5524).

On a warm, spring afternoon, the Woodhouse Day Spa hosted a rather unusual baby shower. Unlike baby showers past, this one was different, where the invited guests felt more like guests of honor. Everyone was pampered, relaxed and rejuvenated.

The Woodhouse Day Spa is situated in a Victorian mansion in Denver’s historic Swallow Hill neighborhood. Originally designed in 1886 by well-known architect―and next-door neighbor―Frank Edbrooke, who built the Brown Palace Hotel, Woodhouse is a reminder of days gone by. The architecture, the stained glass, the treatment rooms that were once bedrooms—all of these pieces are evidence of a rich history and enhance the overall guest experience.

“We are about the total experience from start to finish,” says Tina Lovelace, co-owner of the Woodhouse Day Spa. With 25 wines on the menu, a complimentary first drink, music, talented technicians, and a hand-selected line of products, Lovelace is always looking for new ways to cater to her guests and to grow with them.

So when Colorado Homes & Lifestyles magazine needed to host a special baby shower for two of its staff members, they knew exactly where to turn. Their goal was to take the traditional elements of a baby shower and update them with a fresh twist. And the Woodhouse was a perfect venue for the afternoon affair.

The invited guests gathered on the sun porch for a light lunch catered by Strings and desserts by D Bar. After opening gifts and the traditional shower fanfare, each guest enjoyed a treatment of their choice, from deep-tissue massages to Egyptian-reflexology pedicures. For the guests, and the guests-of-honor, it was a baby shower they won’t soon forget.
