4 Landscaping Thoughts to Keep in Mind

When it comes to designing your outdoor living space, keep these four thoughts in mind.

Functionality

Is the space set up so that it can be used for all of your needs? For example, if you are a family that likes to entertain, and also plays a lot of sports, is there enough hardscape versus sod? Keep in mind the activities you would like to use your outdoor space for.

Environment

Consider what plants are native to your location and what fares well in your area. This will help your plantings last that much longer, and will also fit in with the natural landscape. Consider the weather in your location when choosing what types of plants to use.

Size

Make sure your yard can accommodate the type of design are you looking for. You don’t want to cram too much stuff into one space, but you also don’t want it to look too desolate. Keep a good balance of hardscape and landscape.

Timing

When do you want your project to be completed? Be sure to give yourself enough time to get estimates from landscape contractors and always ask how far out they are booked for work. Many people end up finding themselves with too little time between when they thought about doing landscaping and when they actually want the work completed.
