The Children’s Diabetes Foundation hosted its 33rd annual Carousel Ball on October 19 in support of two organizations working to combat type 1 diabetes.

The elegant gala featured a slew of celebrities from Mario Lopez to Reba McEntire gathered with 900 guests at the Hyatt Regency in Downtown Denver to raise money for CDF and the Barbara Davis Center for Diabetes.

Since 1997, CDF and the Carousel Ball have raised more than $110 million. Proceeds go directly toward blood testing, synthetic insulin, artificial pancreases and a cure for type 1 diabetes, to name a few.

This year, Lisa and Tom Corley were honored for their contributions to CDF over the last 20 years, and accepted the High Hopes Tribute Award. Richard Abrams, M.D., took home the Founders Award for his contributions to scientific research for type 1 diabetes for more than 40 years.

At the silent auction, attendees got the chance to bid on experiences in sports, cuisine, entertainment, beauty, travel, fashion jewelry, art, home décor and children-specific categories.

About the Children’s Diabetes Foundation
The Children’s Diabetes Foundation, located in Denver, was established in 1977 by Barbara and Marvin Davis after their daughter, Dana, developed diabetes at the age of seven. The non-profit organization is dedicated to the support of research in diabetes and to providing the best possible clinical and educational programs for people with the disease. The Foundation’s mission is to raise funds to support the Barbara Davis Center for Diabetes and its world-renowned research programs, where thousands of patients with type 1 diabetes, children and adults alike, receive the finest diabetes care available. Thanks to the generous funding provided to the Center, all patients are welcome, regardless of their financial status.
